Simone Biles
Simone Arianne Biles (/sI'moUn 'baI@lzborn on 14 March, 1997)[4] is an American artistic gymnast. Biles tied Shannon Miller for the number of Olympic medals won in American gymnastics and is currently the ninth highest. She is widely considered to be the greatest gymnast ever, having won 25 World Championship medals. Joe Biden awarded Biles the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022. Biles received individual gold medals at Rio's 2016 Summer Olympics. Bronze on balance beam, vault and all-around were her prizes. Biles also won bronze in the United States Team, which was dubbed"the "Final Five". She was pulled out of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics due to "the twisties", an air balance disorder which affects her ability to control her balance. Biles ultimately took home an Olympic silver medal for the US team and bronze on the balance beam. The team was highly praised for the partial withdrawal she made, her persistence and focus on safety, mental and mental health. She also is an all-around champion five times over, World all-around champion (2013-2015 (2018), 2018-2019) and five-time World floor exercise champion (2013-2015 and 2018-2019) Three-time World champion on balance beam (2014-2015 and 2019) Two-time World vault champion (2018-2019) and a seven-time United States national all-around champion (2013-2016 and 2018-2019 until 2021) and was a part of the gold-medal winning American teams competing in the 2014, 2015 2018 and the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She is also an World silver medalist on the vault and balance beam (2013 and 2014) and balance beam (2013 and 2014), as well as a threetime World bronze medalist in vault (2015 2013, 2013 and the year 2018 on bars that are uneven).
Biles is the gymnast who won the most World gold medals (19) and World medals (25) in the world. She also surpasses Vitaly Scherbo's record of 23 World medals. Biles won her 24thplace and 25th with gold medals at Stuttgart's competition in 2019. Biles is the female gymnast who has earned the most World all around titles (5). She's the sixth woman to be awarded both an individual and a team all-around title at the Olympics or World Championships. She is the tenth female gymnast and the first American female gymnast to win an entire World medal on every event and is the first female gymnast since Daniela Silivas in 1988 to be awarded a medal in every event in a single Olympic Games or World Championships, having accomplished this feat in the 2018 World Championships in Doha. Biles was born on the 14th of March 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, the third of four siblings.Her birth mother, Shanon Biles, was unable to care for Simone and her three other children - Adria, Ashley, and Tevin. The four siblings were all in and out of foster care. Biles is the maternal grandfather Ron Biles and Nellie Cayetano Biles were aware that Shanon had been placed in foster care. They began caring for Shanon's kids temporarily in Spring, Texas in 2000. In 2003, the Biles family had officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon and Shanon's aunt Harriet, adopted their two most eldest children. Biles is a Belizean citizen because of her adoptive mother and considers Belize her second homeland. Biles is Catholic, as is her family.
